I can’t say enough great things about this breed!! I had them years ago, they were one of the first breeds I started with. Then needed to downsize, so got rid of them. I always missed them, so decided to breed them again.

They were never very popular my customers. I hope I can encourage more people to get them, they will not disappoint you!

Here is why I LOVE them!!!

1. Beautiful, Big, high quality, well shaped eggs! They start laying early for such a big bird, and the pullet eggs start out big as well! I think overall they are the best eggs of all my breeds! They range in color from a rosey/beige to a light golden brown, and all the shades in between.

2. The Bielefelder hens are my most colorful hen. I actually think the hens are as pretty, if not prettier than the roosters. I just love the golden-salmon-copper-grey hues of their feathers. I think they are the prettiest hens of all my breeds.

3. Their temperament is calm, confident, and friendly.

4. They are auto sexing, which means when they hatch you can easily tell which chicks are males and which are females.

5. They are adual purpose breed. Bred for both meat and egg production.
